Overview

Head 20 km north of Agadir to Taghazout, Morocco's surf capital, for a two-hour beginner lesson at a mellow beach break, a walk to the famous Anchor Point headland, and a relaxed afternoon on Banana Beach.

Taghazout is a compact fishing village turned surf hub sitting on a headland between two beaches. Its whitewashed walls are painted with wave murals and its alleyways are lined with surf schools, yoga studios and cafés serving the kind of slow breakfasts that stretch to noon. For advanced surfers the draw is Anchor Point — a long right-hand point break that peels for several hundred metres on a good swell — but for first-timers, the sandy beach south of the village offers gentle, forgiving waves ideal for a first lesson.

Your day includes a two-hour lesson with a certified local instructor, equipment provided, at the beginner break. Afterwards you walk the headland path to Anchor Point to watch the lineup from the cliff — a spectacular viewpoint regardless of surf ability. The afternoon is spent at Banana Beach (Aghroud), a wide sandy cove south of Taghazout, where the pace is firmly horizontal. A final mint tea in the village before returning to Agadir.

Day-by-day itinerary

Agadir → Agadir

  1. 1

    08:30 · Transfer to Taghazout

    Agadir → Taghazout

Your driver heads north on the coast road, arriving in Taghazout village in about 25 minutes. Park above the village and walk the narrow lanes to meet your surf instructor at the beach access below.

  2. 2

    09:00 · Beginner Surf Lesson

    Taghazout Beach

A two-hour lesson at the sandy beach break south of the village. Your certified instructor covers ocean safety, board control and white-water riding. Wetsuit, board and rashguard are provided. Most beginners are standing and riding by the end of the session.

  3. 3

    11:00 · Anchor Point Walk

    Anchor Point, Taghazout

Change and walk the 15-minute cliff path north of the village to the Anchor Point viewpoint. On a good north-west swell, long-board and shortboard surfers can be watched from the rocks above — one of the best free spectacles on the Moroccan coast.

  4. 4

    12:00 · Lunch & Village Explore

    Taghazout Village

Lunch at one of the rooftop cafés — fish tagine or a vegetable couscous — and time to wander the village murals and browse the small surf and handicraft shops.

  6. 6

    16:00 · Return to Agadir

    Agadir

Mint tea in the village before the 25-minute drive back to Agadir, arriving by 17:00.

Frequently asked

Questions about this tour.

Is "Taghazout Surf & Yoga Day" private or a group tour?

100% private. Just you and the people you book with — your own driver, vehicle and pace from start to finish. We never pool travellers.

Can I change the dates or itinerary?

Yes. Every itinerary is a starting point. Add a day, swap a riad, change the start city — we'll re-quote in 24 hours and lock the price in writing before any deposit.

How fit do I need to be?

Easy. Light walking on medina cobblestones, plus optional activities you can opt in or out of on the day.

When should I book?

Agadir is a year-round coast, but for peak weeks (Christmas, Easter and July–August) and anything involving Paradise Valley or the Anti-Atlas in spring, book 6–10 weeks ahead. Last-minute (under 14 days) is usually still possible with a phone call.
