Why Taghazout
Taghazout is the surf village right on our doorstep — a small fishing port 19 km north of Agadir, curled around a crescent bay between two headlands. It made its name on the international surf map back in the 1970s as a stop on the overland hippie trail, and has grown into Morocco's leading surf destination since without shedding its village feel. The headline break, Anchor Point, is a world-class right-hander at its best from October to April; Hash Point and Panorama serve up kinder, more forgiving waves. Behind the coast, the argan forests of the Souss-Massa region supply much of the world's argan oil, hand-pressed in women's cooperatives along the road. For our coastal guests it's the easiest day out there is.
What to see
A long, peeling right-hander over a rocky reef — one of the finest point breaks in Africa, at its best October–April when North Atlantic swells run 1.5–3 m.
Hash Point and Panorama roll in mellow, learner-friendly waves, and several licensed schools in the village run daily lessons for beginners and improvers right through the year.
Women's co-ops on the N1 just south of Taghazout cold-press argan oil by hand; drop in for a quick demonstration and the chance to buy straight from the producers.
A 35 km drive inland into the Anti-Atlas gorges, ending at a string of turquoise pools and waterfalls beneath a palm oasis — the pick of the inland half-days from the surf coast.

Yes — Hash Point and Panorama in the sheltered bay throw up gentle, dependable beginner waves, and licensed surf schools run all year. Anchor Point is for experts only, but novices can sit on the headland and watch it work.
October through April lands the most consistent North Atlantic swells — typically 1.5–2.5 m with offshore winds most mornings. May–September flattens off and is better suited to swimming and snorkelling.
Just 19 km, about 30 minutes by car. It's an easy day trip from Agadir, but far better as a multi-night stay: the light over the bay at dawn and dusk is something else, and the cleanest waves come early.
The village is full of laid-back rooftop cafés and surf-lodge kitchens serving fresh fish and Moroccan staples. It's a quiet place, not a party town — for proper restaurants and bars, head back into Agadir.
