The short answer

The Legzira Beach & Mirleft day trip from Agadir is a private full-day excursion — from $120 per person — that drives roughly 150 km (about 2 to 2.5 hours each way) south past the silver town of Tiznit to Legzira, where a vast natural arch of iron-red sandstone frames the breaking Atlantic. You walk the beach beneath the arch at low tide, then head north to the clifftop surf town of Mirleft for a fresh grilled-fish lunch, returning via Tiznit's silversmith souk. It runs door-to-door from your Agadir hotel with a private driver-guide and no shared coaches.

Honest note: Legzira originally had two sea arches, but the larger one collapsed in 2016. One dramatic arch still stands — and it remains one of the most photographed natural sights in Morocco.

The real Legzira & Mirleft day trip

The Legzira excursion below is a genuine, hour-by-hour tour you can open and read in full, alongside a related southern-coast day if you would rather pair the silversmith town of Tiznit with a wilder beach. Prices are per person on a private basis.

Morning

Agadir pickup & the road south via Tiznit

We collect you from your hotel and head south on the N1 through Inezgane and across the Souss plain to the walled silver town of Tiznit — roughly 90 minutes — pausing briefly at the medina gate. From there the road runs on toward the coast, reaching Legzira at around mid-morning.

Late morning

The red sandstone sea arch & beach walk

A short cliff path (about ten minutes on foot) drops down to Legzira beach. You walk the sand to the surviving sea arch — a great span of iron-red sandstone — and at low tide you can pass beneath it. Your guide explains the iron-oxide geology and the 2016 collapse of the second arch. Allow time to take it in; this is the highlight of the day.

Midday

Mirleft cliffs & a fresh-fish lunch

We drive north to Mirleft, a small plateau town with a quiet following among European surfers. Walk the clifftop path above its pocket beaches, then sit down to a lunch of fresh grilled fish, prawns and Moroccan salads on a terrace overlooking the Atlantic.

Afternoon

Return to Agadir via the Tiznit silver souk

On the way home we stop again in Tiznit — one of Morocco's great centres of Berber silversmithing — for a short browse of the jewellers' souk, a good place to buy bracelets and rings at fair prices, before the run back up the N1. You are usually back in Agadir by around 17:30.

Who this day trip suits

Photographers and scenery lovers

The red arch against the breaking Atlantic is one of Morocco's most photographed natural scenes. The sandstone glows warmest in the low light of mid-morning and late afternoon — your guide knows the angles and the safe footing.

Wild-coast and beach wanderers

If the resort strip feels too tidy, this is the antidote: empty red-cliff beaches, powerful surf and a coastline that still feels undiscovered. A private vehicle means you set the pace and linger where you like.

Couples, friends and easy-going families

A private car and your own schedule make for a relaxed full day. The walking is a gentle cliff path and a beach stroll on sand, so it suits anyone reasonably mobile — though the descent is uneven in places.

First-time visitors to Morocco's deep south

A private driver-guide who knows the road, the tides and the honest lunch spots makes this an easy, low-stress way to reach one of the country's most remote and rewarding stretches of coast.

Planning your day, practically

Timing

An early start gives you Legzira before the midday crowds, an unhurried lunch in Mirleft and a relaxed return that has you back in Agadir by around 17:30. It is a longer day than the closer excursions — the scenery makes the drive worth it.

Distance & drive

Legzira is roughly 150 km south of Agadir, beyond Tiznit on the Sidi Ifni road — about 2 to 2.5 hours each way, a little more with the Tiznit stop. The N1 is good fast road as far as Tiznit, then a quieter coastal route.

Tides

The beach is tide-dependent. At low tide you can walk the sand and pass beneath the arch; at high tide the beach narrows and the arch is best seen from the cliff platform above. We aim to time the visit around low water where the day allows.

Season

A year-round day trip. Autumn and winter bring bigger, more dramatic Atlantic swell; spring and autumn are the most comfortable for walking. The red sandstone glows warmest in mid-morning and late-afternoon light.

Legzira & Mirleft day trip from Agadir: frequently asked

How far is Legzira from Agadir?

Legzira beach lies roughly 150 km south of Agadir, beyond the silver town of Tiznit on the road toward Sidi Ifni. Allow about 2 to 2.5 hours of driving each way, a little longer with the Tiznit stop, depending on traffic and how long you linger. It works as a full-day round trip with a relaxed early start.

Is the Legzira arch still there?

Yes — one arch still stands. Legzira originally had two famous sea arches, but the larger of the two collapsed in September 2016. The surviving arch remains intact and is still one of the most spectacular and most photographed natural features on the Moroccan coast. We describe the site honestly: you will see one dramatic arch, not two.

Is Legzira beach worth visiting?

For dramatic coastal scenery, yes. The combination of towering iron-red cliffs, the surviving sandstone arch and the wild Atlantic surf is unlike anything on the developed Agadir coast. Paired with the laid-back surf town of Mirleft and a fresh-fish lunch, it makes one of the most rewarding day trips from Agadir for travellers who want raw nature over resort polish.

When is the best time to visit Legzira — does the tide matter?

The tide matters. At low tide the beach opens up and you can walk along the sand and beneath the arch; at high tide the beach narrows and the arch is best appreciated from the cliff platform above. We time the visit around the tide where the day's schedule allows. The site is good year-round; the red sandstone glows warmest in mid-morning and late-afternoon light.

How much does the Legzira & Mirleft day trip from Agadir cost?

The private Legzira & Mirleft Coast day trip starts from $120 per person, depending on group size and season. The price includes hotel pickup, a private air-conditioned vehicle, a private driver-guide, the guided beach walk at Legzira, the Mirleft clifftop stop with a fresh-fish lunch and the Tiznit silver-souk stop on the way home. Send your dates and party size for a written, itemised quote within 24 hours.

Is this a private tour or a shared group trip?

It is 100% private. The vehicle, the driver-guide and the pace are yours alone — just you and the people you book with. We never pool travellers, so you can linger on the beach, slow down over lunch in Mirleft or add a Sidi Ifni stop further south exactly as you prefer.
