Why Casablanca
Casablanca is the country's biggest city and its main international airport (CMN), roughly three hours up the Atlantic from the Souss coast. Don't come expecting the postcard Morocco of ramparts and palms — this is a working modern metropolis of French-era art-deco frontages, a long Atlantic corniche, and the sheer scale of the Hassan II Mosque, built out over the ocean itself. A great many guests heading for an Agadir holiday connect through here, so we fold in a half-day for anyone who wants to actually see the city before catching the southbound flight or carrying on down the coast.

Place Mohammed V, the streets of Bessonneau-era apartment blocks, and the restored Cinema Rialto.
The Atlantic boardwalk, the beach clubs of Ain Diab and a sundowner on the terrace at Rick's Café.

For most holidaymakers, a half-day taking in the Hassan II Mosque and the art-deco downtown is plenty. It works best caught on the way in or out rather than as an overnight — save your nights for the coast, Marrakech or Essaouira.
Casablanca (CMN) has the widest spread of long-haul connections; Agadir (AGA) takes plenty of direct European flights and puts you on the beach the moment you land. We often set up the open-jaw — in through CMN for the cities, out from AGA once the coast is done.
